The Countryside Alliance Awards, the ‘Rural Oscars’, our gold standard awards have returned for their 14th year. Over 17,000 of nominations have be submitted and the skills, produce, tradition, enterprise, and the people behind the businesses will be judged; and the champions crowned in June 2019 at the House of Lords.
We have now announced our regional finalists, and from these businesses 9 regional champions from 5 categories will be invited to Parliament for the national finals, and in the presence of MPs and Ministers (it is the highlight of the political year after all!) just 5 will be crowned national rural champions.
The 5 categories are:
Have they put the community on the map via the quality and diversity of local produce being sold?
Village Shop/ Post Office
Are they the cornerstone of the village and breathed life into the community and local economy?
Is traditional butchery at the heart of the enterprise or have they brought a modern twist to this ancient skill?
Is this business a growing asset to its community and making a real contribution?
Would winning this competition reward a really special enterprise and tell a positive story about rural life while championing local food and drink?
